About Hata Yoga

Hata Yoga is far more than a fitness method for physical health or even a psychological tool to achieve peace and happiness. When transmitted as a live process, it is a profound science, leading one to a mastery over every aspect of the human mechanism. It is a possibility to restructure life towards the ultimate possibility.

Devised by Sadhguru, a realized master, yogi and a profound mystic, Isha Hata Yoga is derived from a yogic tradition, which has been maintained in its full sanctity and vibrancy for thousands of years. We offer immersive programs where participants establish a confident and complete practice. Programs range from weekend workshops learning the powerful Surya Kriya, to on-going series exploring a fundamental series of Yogasanas, to shorter classes that bring balance to the system through asanas, pranayam and meditation.

20130918_CAF_157Jordan offers classical Isha Hata Yoga as an opportunity for committed students throughout the Bay Area to imbibe this powerful science via immersive on-going programs, workshops and weekly classes. An aspiring yogi since, 2005, Jordan credits a move to San Francisco with fueling an exploration of health and well-being as everyday life. After first meeting Sadhguru in 2009, Jordan spent two years in focused practice, before deciding to leave behind a successful career in consulting and marketing to train as a yoga teacher.

Throughout 2012, Jordan spent 8 months in India intensifying his sadhana, culminating with the 21-week, full-time, residential Hata Yoga teacher training program in the foothills of Tamil Nadu at the Isha Yoga Center. The teacher training provided an extensive exploration into the full depth and magnitude of Hata Yoga, aiming to revive and impart various dimensions of this ancient science, which are largely absent in the world today.

Jordan creates globally-inspired meals with friends, plays piano, and treks the great outdoors whenever he finds the time.

In each program participants gain an in-depth knowledge about each component of the practice and leave empowered to practice confidently at home.

Surya Kriya (learn more)

Learn a potent yogic practice of tremendous antiquity, traditionally available only to a select few. “Surya” means “Sun,” and “Kriya” means “inner energy process.” Surya Kriya activates the system and balances a person’s energies leading to stability of the body and stillness of the mind. Designed as a holistic process for health, wellness and inner wellbeing, Surya Kriya is a complete spiritual process by itself.

Offered as a set of 21 powerful postures to transform the body and the mind into a possibility for ultimate wellbeing. They are not taught merely for physical fitness and strength. They are a way of aligning the inner system to the celestial geometry, becoming in sync with the existence, thereby naturally achieving a state of health, joy, and bliss.

Awakening the Body: Upa Yoga

Learn a simple, yet powerful set of 10 practices that activate the joints, muscles and energy system. The term “Upa Yoga” is commonly used to denote “usefulness.” Based on a sophisticated understanding of the body’s mechanics, it creates an instant sense of alertness, liveliness and brings ease to the whole system. It rejuvenates the body after long periods of inactivity and helps to negate the impact of jet lag.

Angamardhana: Mastering the limbs (learn more)

Taught as a series of 31 dynamic processes to invigorate the body, and reach peak physical fitness. The word “Angamardhana” means gaining complete mastery over the limbs, organs and other parts of the body. It revitalizes all the systems of the body such as muscular, skeletal, nervous, circulatory and respiratory systems.

Corporate / Private Lessons

Custom tailored to meet your needs, our Private and Semi-Private lessons offer an opportunity to imbibe the practice on your schedule with individualized attention to your practice.

For the corporate setting, we offer flexible programs from one hour to multiple days, aimed at providing an on-going practice and a way of life that reaches far beyond physical fitness, to touch the core of ensuring your employees are joyful, healthy and productive. Programs take a multifaceted approach to wellness by including asanas (postures or exercises), pranayam, guided meditation and relaxation techniques.
Example programs: Sharpening Your Focus and Attention, Balancing and Stabilizing the System.

Bhuta Suddhi

is the most fundamental practice in the yogic system. “Bhuta” refers to the five elements and “Shuddhi” means “to cleanse.” This purificatory process helps one to achieve a state of harmony and balance which prepares the body for higher levels of sadhana, or spiritual practices.
